Optimize Your Body.

It’s not just about ‘losing weight’, it’s about optimizing your body composition and your metabolism along the way.

Break up with the scale and BMI as your only markers for being healthy.

Summer of 2021

My own journey.

I was a nationally competitive gymnast as a teenager. Then I went to college, then medical school and then residency. Throw having two kids and a busy career as a physician into the mix and turning 40 (hello, perimenopause!).

Then the pandemic happened…and like a lot of people, I gained 10-20lbs.

So what worked for me?

A combination of:

  • biohacking my sleep and stress levels (love my Oura Ring and Calm and Moshi apps)

  • low carb and high protein diet and to avoid fasting too long (based on my own medical history)

  • lifting HEAVY weights 2-3 days a week and getting in as many 10,000+ step days as possible

  • taking semaglutide (I only needed a low dose)

Please note that this was MY personalized plan that worked for ME. It took time to figure this out, a lot of people supporting me, and a lot of perseverance and mindfulness. I am still on my journey, today…

I would love to help you on your journey to optimizing your body composition!

What is body composition optimization?

It’s not just about losing weight! It’s about creating an individualized program for you to balance your metabolism, address your hormones, and meet your goals.

  • It begins by addressing stress management, sleep hygiene, and daily habits.

  • Eating whole, fresh, minimally processed foods while making sure you are eating the right balance of macros (fats, carbs, proteins).

  • We are meant to move! Mixing the right amount of cardio and weight lifting exercise throughout your week is key to balancing your hormones and metabolism.

  • There are many medications available for ‘weight loss’. Some I prescribe and some I do not. I do prescribe metformin, semaglutide, and trizepatide (after a thorough history and laboratory evaluation of your metabolism) if it is appropriate for your individual situation. I also have vitamins and other fat burning supplements to recommend if appropriate.

  • I take a deep dive into your hormones including those for your metabolism but also your reproductive hormones. We can do blood work but also saliva and urine testing.

  • I require monthly body composition measurements (I prefer InBody scans) to watch your balance of body fat to skeletal muscle mass. Your muscles help you burn fat. I watch you closely each month to make sure you aren’t losing too much muscle to set you up for the best outcomes.

  • I do not just send you out to fend for yourself. I see you monthly, with body composition measurements to watch your progress, and have colleagues in the community to help you with health coaching, nutrition/meal plans, personal trainers, etc.
